don't jump to conclusions, this is a first date and he's not your boyfriend. 12 is much too early to date; you should wait another 6 years. Hopefully his dad will go with the both of you and supervise. Just go to the movies and enjoy the movie. Make sure your mom approves. Maybe you'll go to a restaurant too. Be careful.
I personally believe you're too young to date, but nevertheless...I would suggest doing an activity that doesn't distract you too much from each other. It should be something you can do while talking. For example, going out for coffee or going to lunch/dinner or something. Maybe even going to the park (more appropriate for your age). Just have fun and act like close friends!

tell him your nervous.i am 11 and want to date and im scared to but,im not gonna say ';your too young go play with your barbies!';i HATE when people do that lol!
