I'm a 25 year old male. I have suffered from depression for many years now. I'm taking Zoloft to treat my depression. I'm currently single and really worried if Zoloft will effect my sex life if I start dating a girl. How common are sex problems with Zoloft in men?
When I masturbate I can last much longer, but everything takes much more work it seems. Should I be worried if I start dating someone? Any advice from men who have had experience on antidepressants would be greatly appreciated.Taking Zoloft and want to date a girl, need advice ?

Common. Sexual dysfunction of many different sorts are a well-known side effect of the SSRIs. There might be better drugs out there. Go cautiously if you've been on Z for a long time, and it always helps to talk to your provider. FYI, I'd ask this kind of question to a real psychiatrist, not a family doctor that has given you the script. Psychiatric drug titration is best done by an expert.
Some examples of drugs to switch to might include Lexapro, which has fewer theoretical side effects. Or your psychiatrist may decide to adopt an augmentation strategy with something like Wellbutrin, which would provide a synergistic antidepressant effect but reduces sexual dysfunction when used in combination with SSRIs.
Of course, the major consideration to take into account is how well your psychiatric symptoms are responding to Z in the first place.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
